Welcome to Culinary Goodness!

The Savorys were founded by Almond, the man who moved away from his life in Riverview and bought a plot of land in Sunset Valley. Will he and his legacy make it through fifteen generations, with fifteen simmers telling their story?

Chapter Eleven

So, after my dramatic realization, making my life goals at a young age, and all of that good stuff, Cammie becoming a teen didn't really seem like such a big deal. That didn't stop me from acting excited, especially when Cammie started to return to her usual state of melancholy (increased by about ten million because she was now a teenage girl, and as far as I can tell all they do is angst about their lives...).

Photobucket

I encouraged her to wear her hair differently, which seemed to cheer her up quite a bit. Do you have any clue how embarrassing it was for me to even think of that idea, much less say it out loud? The things I do for family. I mean, Sage teased me mercilessly for days!

Photobucket

Unfortunately, Cammie was quickly getting into all kinds of trouble. She's always had a bit of a daring streak. One night, she was out way past curfew for no particular reason. According to her, she wanted to "stay out all night and see if the moron police could catch me." Nice one, Cam. They caught her an hour after curfew started and brought her home to face Mom's wrath.

Photobucket

I swear, I'd never seen Mom that angry before. If her glare got any more severe, the very sight would cause mountains to crumble into dust at her feet. I'm not exaggerating even a bit.

Naturally, I didn't want to miss the yelling session, so I watched from a window. Didn't want to get close to Mom when she was in Murderously Angry Mother Mode.

Photobucket

I watched all of Cammie's defenses fall to pieces.

Cammie: I, uh, I was just, you know.

Mom: Staying out past curfew? Shaming your poor mother in front of the whole community? Yes, you did all of that and more! I only hope I can show my face in town tomorrow... or anytime this week, for that matter! Oh, what will I tell Sadie at book club tomorrow? She's such a gossip, she'll know all about this! Did you think of that, Chamomile?!

Cammie: Well... uhhh...

Yup, Mother played the disappointed act well. Cammie hasn't been out a minute past curfew since.

Photobucket

Meanwhile, I decided to become an entrepreneur. Which is not as easy as it sounds, for the record. I had to bug Mom to buy the stand, then spend TONS of time baking cookies and muffins and all of that. Then I had to practice making the face that convinces the customers they absolutely must have that cookie made by the sweet little boy... yup, I wasn't above using my looks to rake in the dough.

Photobucket

But the customers flocked to me. Maybe it was my knack for cooking. Or maybe my obsessive reading of the Baking Report. I checked it every two minutes, just in case it had changed or I'd missed something the first time through. This is probably why Mom has to tell me to chill out when I start to stress over the fact that I didn't space all of the words in my homework evenly. Yeah, I'm pretty neurotic...

Photobucket

At some point, Ambrosia became a young adult. It was yet another small family gathering, which was only distinguished by Mom's complaints that yet another child was of age but that there were no grandkids in sight... it's probably best that Am didn't hear those comments. She might not have taken them so nicely...

Photobucket

It seemed that Sage was about to prove that statement wrong. It wasn't long before the whole family gathered at the upstairs window to watch Sage share his first kiss with Serenity Langerak. They'd been friends for ages, so it wasn't unexpected, though I was a litlle surprised (admittedly, I thought kissing was kind of gross back then. I actually thought Sage had went a little insane).

Photobucket

So, yeah, it's a bit awkward that the whole family was watching Sage ask her out. But this was high drama. It was like real life TV or something... except better than Reality TV! We even had a betting poll going (the winner didn't have to do any chores for a week). Mom insisted that Serenity would say yes, Cammie thought she would turn him down (always the optimist, my sister is), and I was still betting on Sage coming to his senses and taking it back.

Sage: So, uh, will you be my girlfriend?

Photobucket

Is it really a shock that Mom was right?

There was much cheering (Mom), and fuming (me and Cammie). It's a good thing Sage was too... busy to hear us.

Photobucket

None of us counted on the constant public displays that followed. Cammie was particularly disgusted, and took to staring at them in the hopes that they'd feel uncomfortable with the audience and stop. Needless to say, her plan was a failure. Sage and Serenity were so in love they didn't care. Cammie claimed their oh-so-cute relationship made her want to puke, but looking back on it I think she was just jealous.

Photobucket

After she left every night, Sage would stare out the window longingly. He looked absolutely miserable. I admit, it just didn't connect for me. I'd never cared about someone else so much that I genuinely wished I could spend every minute of my life with them.

Photobucket

Life settled into a happy pattern. Cammie learned how to play the guitar. Not only did it fill the house with music, but it gave her a way to vent. The guitar was the only thing that could really calm her down.

Photobucket

Mom and Cammie brought their relationship back to normal in the only way they knew how: making funny faces at each other. Did I get it? Of course not. But I was grateful that the two had found a way to relate to each other, no matter how odd it was.

Photobucket

Ambrosia discovered a love for gardening. She went out at all hours to tend the garden and make sure all the plants were healthy. I feared for the garden when she decided to move out- the rest of us were far too lazy to do anything.

Photobucket

With Sage always busy kissing Serenity, I decided to get to know my sisters better. And I realized that even though they were girls (and therefore aliens), they were actually pretty cool. Though I admit, sometimes their conversation went a bit over my head. I may have been an incredibly smart, cool, interesting, and dedicated kid (did I mention modest?), but even I had not yet mastered the translation from "girl speak" to Simlish.

Photobucket

And then, just like that, it was time for me to become a teen. Naturally, I had tons of plans: expand my baking business, get perfect grades, get a job at the spa...

Oh yes, I was very excited. I may or may not have jumped up and down, clapping in excitement (please say there's no photo evidence).

Photobucket

Amidst the confetti and adoring crowds and mobbing fans (okay, so it was just my family. A boy can dream, right?), I became a teen. Finally, my glorious years of growth and achievement were about to begin. As if! I should've known being a teen would suck. I should've been hoping I would get through it alive, not planning how much I would get done.

Photobucket

Here's a close up of my face, pre-teen angst. I thought I was better than Sage and his clingy relationship, better than Cammie and her moping around, but I was about to discover my own, particularly dramatic teenage problems...

Chapter Ten

So, I know this is supposed to be my story. I am the heir and all. But this really doesn't start with me. I mean, when my older sister Rosemary moved out I was still sleeping in a crib and having my diapers changed. I'd like to say I was sad she left... but to be honest, I didn't care at all.

Photobucket

This is my only brother, Sage. We're pretty close now, but back then I mainly knew him as the crazy-guy-who-liked-to-dance-to-the-funny music. I think he used to have some strange obsession with yoga dance moves... Sage has always been an interesting guy to have around.

Photobucket

I have vague memories of the day Dad died, though I don't remember him very well now. I know I was sad. Cammie told me that his phone was ringing even as he passed away. I guess it's good to know your dad's popular even in the afterlife...

Photobucket

Mom took it really hard. I think she expected to grow old with Dad, even though she knew he was so much older than her. She didn't think it was possible that he might die while she was still an adult.

Photobucket

It wasn't long before Mom moved from sadness to anger. She saw his death as entirely unfair, and wasn't afraid to shout about it. Even though I was young back then, I can still picture her face when she was in one of her moods. It wasn't pretty, and for awhile I know my siblings feared that she might need serious help.

Photobucket

Mom started to feel better when she buried herself in her writing. She decided to write a book about Rosemary, who she was really missing. It let her think of the times when her and Dad were newlyweds and life was great. I think the writing was what brought her back into herself.

Photobucket

The rest of the family was sad too. I know Sage really missed Dad for a while. His friendship with Serenity Langerak was the thing that kept him together. She comforted him when Mom was in no shape to comfort anyone but herself.

Photobucket

I was still a toddler when Grandpa passed away, but Grandpa had always gone out of his way to spend time with me, so I felt his loss bitterly.

I didn't see Grandpa die, but Sage tells me he was at peace and ready for death. Sage told me once that Grandpa even said, "I make such a spiffy ghost!" I'm not sure if Sage is joking or not. Except that I can completely imagine Grandpa using the word spiffy.

Photobucket

Grandpa must've had a really great life, because he got a gigantic, beautiful grave. It still makes me happy to know he died so fulfilled. Dad's grave looks so plain in comparison. I know that his biggest goal was to raise all of his children, and it was only his death that prevented him from achieving it.

Photobucket

Sage still swears that the Grim Reaper hung around afterward to help with the dishes. That story I don't believe!

Photobucket

Once again, the whole family reacted differently. Sage went around for a while bursting into tears.

Photobucket

Cammie, on the other hand, buried herself in her homework for the first time in her life. She's not a very studious girl most of the time. But she's even worse at talking about her feelings, and I think she wanted to avoid talking to the rest of the family at all costs.

Photobucket

Yes, this is me, Curry Savory, circa my toddler years. I'm afraid this is what I was doing while the family drama occurred: being a whiny (though cute, if I do say so myself) toddler.

This shot was taken right before my birthday. At last I was going to be a child!

Photobucket

My birthday gave some much needed happiness the family. I like to say that it was what really brought us all together again after the deaths. As Mom held me in her arms for the last time, she understood that everyone ages and that she had to live for the kids she had to make the most of life while she could.

Sage would be laughing so hard if he could hear me now. He always says that I'm too dramatic about things like this, but I can't help it. I tend to dramatize everything.

Photobucket

This is me after Mom insisted on combing down my hair. It was a little embarrassing, to tell you the truth, but she really wanted to, and I wasn't going to say no...

Photobucket

I started off the chain of birthdays. Next up was Mom, who aged up in the middle of the day when no one was home. She didn't factor in the maid though. I was happy to hear someone was there to cheer her on as she became an elder.

Photobucket

Mom groaned a lot about being old, but I thought she aged up very nicely. She's a rather pretty old lady, in my opinion. Though she pretended to smack me when I told her that. Who knew that moms don't like being called old ladies?

Photobucket

Next up was Cammie's birthday. She was actually excited for once, so I acted extra happy.

Photobucket

It rubbed off on the rest of the family too. Ambrosia was cheering. Mom held her nose and joked that we "stank" of excitement, and we all laughed at her bad joke. I imagined that it felt like the old days, when the family was whole.

Photobucket

I looked around at the smiling faces of my family members and realized that no matter what else I did with my life, I wanted to have a family and to make them happy. A bit of a corny, dramatic realization for a child to make, right? Maybe, but it was a pretty worthy goal for the future.

Photobucket

This is me, Curry Savory. I may be young now, but I know that my life will be a roller coaster ride of love, happiness, and drama, of course! This is the continuation of my family's story... and the beginning of my own.

Chapter Nine

Although I am still quite young, I believe I have lived a very full life. So much has happened over the years, that I am still trying to believe my fairy tale of a life even happened.

I have accomplished my life time goal: to know every recipe out there. I don't know how I did it, but I have gone through all the recipe books I could find, and constantly watched SimFood Network to learn more. Now it seems as though all of the episodes are re-runs or remakes of recipes!

Although, I have not spent my life just sitting in front of the TV and reading books, mind you. I have five- yes, five- beautiful children that I have raised with the help of my father and my wonderful husband. He still wants more, but I'm not too sure. Our house is full as it is!!

First, we had Rosemary and Ambrosia, who I've already mentioned before. I have not written since then, because this house has been far too crazy!! Shortly after Ambrosia had learned how to walk, I found I was pregnant again. It seems that way with all of them. As soon as one learned their basic skills, I was pregnant again. So, I will take this opportunity to introduce you to them all.

First, as you already know, is Rosemary. She is a very sweet girl who has been helpful with the other children since she became a teenager. She wants to be a five-star chef one day. I'm secretly happy, because that means I can help teach her some recipes along the way!

Next, is Ambrosia. She was an extremely moody baby, but has calmed down quite a bit! She is still in high school, and doesn't know what she wants to do with her life. That's okay though, because I know she will soon figure it all out.

Sage comes next. He just started high school, and already knows he wants to be a surgeon. He always told me as a child that there are so many herbs out there that can help heal people who are sick. I hope he's able to find cures for some things with herbs when he gets older.

The fourth child is little Chamomile, or Cammie. She is just starting school today. My little girl is all grown up now. It's so hard to believe. She loves to play with her doll house and try to be just like her older sisters.

Finally, we have Curry. He is still a toddler who just learned all of his basic skills, so he still has some misses to the potty every once in a while. We have had to go and buy him a potty to have in his room. He is my sweet little baby, and I don't know what I'm going to do with myself once he is old enough to start school. I honestly don't remember a time when there wasn't a baby in the house.

Maybe one more will be okay..I don't know. Maybe I'll find some time to relax without children there during the day. Who knows? My time as heiress is over, and it's time to choose a new child to take over. I know I'm not perfect, and I did not run this house as perfect as I probably should have, but I did the best I can. I can say, however, that this house is full of love, and I hope that passes on through my children.
